Mike Shaw was born and raised in South Texas, where he graduated from Weslaco High School as well as Texas A&M University, where he earned his degree in business management. His education would prove valuable as he pursued his career in the automotive industry, while his resilience and adaptability would also be essential for an ever-changing industry.
Shaw’s resolve and dedication were further sharpened when he was called to serve in the United States Army in Vietnam as an officer, and these qualities defined his work ethic when he returned home. Entering the automotive industry in Texas, Shaw made his mark on the automotive world with a driving passion for cars and commitment to quality and customer service. In the mid-1990s, Mike Shaw acquired a Chevrolet/Buick/Saab dealership in Denver, and was able to expand that enterprise into a network of 10 dealerships spanning the nation.

After many years of success and satisfied customers across the country, Mike Shaw made the strategic decision to sell most of these dealerships and focus on the flagship stores in Corpus Christi – Mike Shaw Kia and Mike Shaw Toyota. Now, the Mike Shaw Automotive Group employs more that 500 automotive professionals, including two generations of the Shaw family. Shaw’s exemplary leadership and work ethic have earned accolades over the years, and in 2012, he was named TIME Magazine Dealer of the Year. Whenever you visit either of these local dealerships, you can always expect the dedication to service excellence and family values that Mike Shaw has instilled in his business from the beginning.
Committed to Corpus Christi
Beyond his passion for cars, Mike Shaw has demonstrated a love for his community, and together with his wife Nancy, he has pursued numerous philanthropic endeavors. Shaw, along with his family and company, have contributed considerable time, work, and resources to make Corpus Christi a better place to live, as Shaw sees his automotive group not only as a business but as a member of the community of friends and neighbors. In return, the community has celebrated Mike Shaw’s contributions with honors like his induction into the Latino Leadership Institute Hall of Fame, which recognizes his long-running support for the Latino community.
