As far as the powertrain of the 2016 Sorento is concerned, the standard engine for the L and LX trim levels is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder that delivers 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. The EX and SX Limited trims gain a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that generates 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. There’s also a different engine for the SX that’s available for the EX and SX Limited – a 3.3-liter V6 engine that produces 290 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard.
