The 2023 Kia Forte has two powertrain options with the base engine, available on the LX, LXS, and GT-Line, a 147-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 132 lb-ft of torque.
The optional engine, available on the GT and GT Manual, is a turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine that generates 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque.
Both engines are equipped with front-wheel drive and have a continuous variable automatic transmission, while a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic or a six-speed manual transmission with a turbocharged engine.
The Forte LX is the entry-level trim packed with several standard interior, technology, and driver-assistance features.
The technology has features such as a four-speaker audio system, an 8-inch touchscreen, a USB port, and wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.
Features like cloth upholstery are standard for the interior.
The safety and driver-assistance features include lane-keep assist, a rearview camera, lane-departure warning, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, forward automatic emergency braking, driver-attention monitoring, pedestrian detection, and automatic high-beam headlights.
Optional features include a universal garage door opener and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
The Forte LXS carries many of the same features as the LX but gains interior features like split-folding rear seats and soft-touch interior surfaces, while the exterior added alloy wheels.
The LXS has optional features such as the LXS Technology package, which includes vehicle exit warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
The Forte GT-Line has all the features of the LX Technology package, along with the addition of a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, sport seats with synthetic leather inserts, and sporty trim-specific styling upgrades for the interior.
The technology features welcomed proximity keyless entry, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, push-button start, a six-speaker audio system, navigation, an additional SUB port, HD Radio, and satellite radio.
The exterior also received sporty trim-specific exterior styling upgrades and a hands-free power trunk lid.
The GT-Line has the option to add the GT-Line Technology package, which includes an electronic hand brake, cyclist detection, navigation-based stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, and highway-driving assist; the GT-Line Premium Package, which has features from the GT-Line Technology package and Harmon Kardon eight-speaker audio system, a sunroof, wireless device charging, and LED interior lighting; and the GT-Line Sport Premium package that comes with features like a rear air-conditioning vent, full synthetic leather upholstery, a rear USB port, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and heated and ventilated front seats.
The Forte GT has many of the same features as the lower trim but adds exterior features like paddle shifters, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and a sport-tuned suspension.
The interior gained a rear air-conditioning vent and a rear USB port, while the technology features welcomed wireless device charging.
The GT-Line Technology package is also standard on the Forte GT.
Optional packages like the GT2 Premium package, which includes rear parking sensors, full synthetic leather upholstery, an eight-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and LED interior lighting.
The GT Manual has many GT features and the GT2 Premium package, but it loses features like full-synthetic leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
