Games To Play On The Beach With Your Family

When you hit the beach with the family this summer, there are plenty of beach games you can improvise to make the most of your trip. When everyone’s ready for fun in the sun, try these exciting, engaging activities.
Beach Games
There are some summertime classics you can always go to when you want to liven up your beach trip. Consider improvising a limbo stick from a beach umbrella or jump rope, and if it’s not too windy, bounce a beachball into the air to see how long everyone can keep it from falling to the ground. If the wind does pick up, the weather is right for flying a kite, or you can easily draw a hopscotch course in the sand to keep everyone up and active.
Get Creative
The sand is your canvas, and when you and your family gather up some supplies, you’ll have plenty of room to create a little artwork on the shore. Explore the surrounding beach for some natural resources you can use as art supplies. Seashells, driftwood, and rocks can all be arranged to create beautiful designs in the sand, while you can always draw lines if the typical beach fare is in short supply. If you’re drawing in the sand, you could start a round of “Pictionary,” inviting the family to guess what you’re drawing before the tide washes it out.
Explore
Sometimes the best trips are those with no destination in mind. Even when the beach is crowded, a stroll along the water’s edge can be rewarding as the scenery continuously changes around you. Bring the whole family along as you take a walk along the beach, letting the surf splash by and pull the sand between your toes as it goes back out again. While you wander, you could initiate a game of “I Spy” picking out things on the sand or swimming around in the tide.
