Prepare For Spring Cleaning With These Steps
Winter isn’t quite over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a jump on your spring cleaning checklist. To help you prepare for your big spring projects, knock out these six tasks.
Buy Your Cleaning Supplies
After a long winter bundled up inside, your home is likely in need of some serious TLC. Take a look around and start thinking about the supplies you’ll need to spruce things up. Do your windows need some attention? Add glass cleaner to your shopping list. Do you need to dust your ceiling fans? Get a high-reach duster as well.
Inspect Your Homes Exterior
Making sure your home’s exterior is in tip-top shape will allow you to focus more on the interior when the first spring breeze comes through. Take a stroll around the outside of your home and make a note of anything that needs some attention. Go ahead and tackle tasks like retouching the paint or caulking pillars.
Stock Up On Home Fragrances
The finishing touch to any deep cleaning project is spritzing the room with a light and refreshing fragrance, so grab a few home fragrances that you like. You can use candles, oil diffusers, plug-in air fresheners, or sprays. Scents like eucalyptus, mint, clean linen, or lavender are particularly suited for the spring.
Check Your Air Conditioning Unit
Finding out that your air conditioner is out of commission when it’s 90 degrees outside isn’t fun. To avoid that situation, make sure it’s in good condition now. You should also change your filters and clean your vents so your air conditioner will be ready to go when warm weather arrives.
Out With The Old
You don’t have to pull everything out of your closet, garage, or storage just yet, but now is a good time to do a quick skim of your belongings. If you have a few sweaters you haven’t worn all winter or items in your garage you haven’t used in years, throw them away or find a place to donate them.

Get Ready To Change Your Curtains
If you usually keep the same curtains and drapes up all year long, there’s nothing wrong with that. However, changing your curtains to light, spring-time colors can rejuvenate a room. If you plan to update your curtains this spring, start shopping for your new curtains now so you’ll have them on hand when spring comes.
