Prepare For Saturday Football With These Snacks
Football season is here, which means you need some snacks to enjoy your day cheering on the boys of fall. Whether you are hosting friends for a watch party, enjoying the game with your family, or want to have snacks for easy stress eating during the fourth quarter, Growing Up Bilingual has you covered with these game-day snacks.
Southwest Shrimp Bites
If you are looking for a way to impress your friends or family while also providing individual snacks, try these southwest shrimp bites. What you will need is tortilla chips, ½ cup of mild chunky salsa, ½ cup guacamole (store-bought or homemade is fine), 12 small cooked shrimp, fresh cilantro, and crumbly queso fresco. You will take one teaspoon each of salsa and guac and place it on a tortilla chip and top it with one shrimp, some cilantro, and some queso fresco. What you have is a fun snack that will blow everyone away in flavor and presentation.
Five Layer Dip
A game-day favorite is a five-layer dip. You can either make a big, sharable fiver layer dip, or you can make individual ones by placing the ingredients in individual mason jars. What you will need is 1 cup refried beans, 1 cup guacamole, 1 cup Mexican crema, 1 cup mild chunky salsa, ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1 jalapeño sliced, tortilla chips, and if want to provide individual servings, six mason jars. Start by placing a layer of refried beans, a layer of crema, then guacamole, followed by salsa, and topped with the shredded cheese and jalapeño slices. This one will be a crowd favorite for sure!
Strawberry and Chocolate Football Empanadas
While game day snacks are typically thought to be savory, some people have a sweet tooth. A great way to satisfy a sugary craving is to make strawberry and chocolate empanadas. Grab 12 empanada discs or pie crust cut into 12 football-shaped discs, one cup of diced fresh strawberries, one egg, two tablespoons of water, two tablespoons of brown sugar, one teaspoon of cinnamon, and vanilla frosting.

Snack Board
Last-minute snack needs occur often, especially if you are busy. A long week of work, staying up late into the night on Friday at your kid’s game, or waking up early for fall ball can all lead to a snack mishap. When you are rushing or just ran out of time to make anything before you have people over, try this hack. Grab all your favorite premade snacks: chips, salsa, cheese, pepperoni, popcorn, and cookies, and place them all on a charcuterie board. Once you make it look pretty, you have the perfect snack board for the game and no one will know that you were in crunch time pulling it together.
