Taking the time to learn about history, appreciate it, and honor those who fought and played major parts is something we should all do more often. The USS Lexington Museum is one of those parts of history that many people may look over, not even know about, or think it is slightly irrelevant. No part of history is too small, irrelevant, or needs to be looked over. When you pay a visit to the USS Lexington Museum, you will find that its role in history is significant. You will leave with a brand new perspective and more appreciation for military men and women.

The Exhibits

In addition to learning everything, you need to know about the USS Lexington and its long history in Corpus Christi, as there are several different exhibits that the museum offers. These exhibits will take you through history and display how the USS Lexington played a part in special events, such as Pearl Harbor, and many more. The museum also has an exhibit that is a flight simulator, so you can feel exactly what it would feel like to be on a mission.

The Museum

From the very first day of the museum being open, it has been able to suffice for itself without any additional funds from the local community or the state, nor government, or federal agencies. To this day, the museum relies solely on donations, grants, admissions, store sales, and special events to keep it running and educating those who visit. Surprisingly, these revenues have obviously not only kept the museum up and running for quite some time now but they have been able to fund several upgrades and improvements that have been done to the museum! The USS Lexington Museum has been around for a long time now, and it would not be around if it weren’t for the local community of Corpus Christi. The museum’s main goal going forward is to continue to allow this piece of history to flourish and impact others greatly. They hope it serves as an educational activity that everyone takes something from (even if it is just a souvenir to keep in memory.) Enjoy!
