5 Tips To Help Your Car Stay Cool This Summer

The heat is cranking up here in Corpus Christi, Texas. It won’t be long until the Texas heat climbs from the high 80s to the low 90s to the unbearable 100s. When it gets this hot, you’ll find most people sitting around the pool or hitting the road for the beach. While you may supplement for the extreme heat with a dive into the pool, your car is not as conditioned for the high temperatures. Keep your ride cool all summer long with these five tips!

Invest in a Sunshade

You might think those silver sunshades are unappealing to the eye or outdated. Although, your mind might just change after one day’s use. When using a sunshade, the sun will be blocked, which is sure to keep your ride cooler.

Steering Wheel Cover

It’s happened to us all before. You hop in the car, put it in drive, and grab on to the steering wheel only to injure yourself. After sitting in the sun, it can be dangerous to grab onto a piping hot steering wheel. When exiting your car, put a towel around your steering wheel to protect it from the extreme heat.

Find Some Shade

They say fresh air will you do well! Although, when it’s hot outside, the last thing you want to do is drench your shirt in sweat before you make it into the office. If you can find a spot with some shade, it’s worth the extra walk. At the end of the day, you’ll be amazed at the difference!

Always Choose the Garage

When you have the option to park in a garage, be sure to do it. Being away from direct sunlight is key. Not only will this keep your car cooler, but it will also protect the exterior paint from fading.

Crack the Windows

If the forecast is clear of rain, slightly crack your windows to keep the heat from being trapped in your vehicle. Although, make sure they are not too cracked to where someone could steal something out of your vehicle.
