Run The Runway At Corpus Christi International Airport!
This November, you can hit the tarmac at the Corpus Christi International Airport to race in a 5k like no other. Run the Runway returns to the Coastal Bend, and the airport will close off one of its runways for a few hours to allow runners to vie for best-time awards. Jet engines will roar overhead, and whether or not you take home the first-place medal, your registration fee will support a good cause. Proceeds from this race benefit the USO of South Texas.
When and Where
The race will be held at the Corpus Christi International Airport on Saturday, November 23, starting at 8 a.m. The airport is located at 1000 International Boulevard, Corpus Christi, Texas 78406.
Race Down the Runway
The starting line will stretch over the North GA ramp. From there, the course will lead racers through a taxiway and down the runway, all while planes take off and land in the neighboring lanes. While you’re welcome to walk or jog at your own pace, this competitive race will be chip timed for runners looking to challenge themselves. Custom-made awards will go to the quickest runners in 12 age categories, as well as to the overall best male and female times. The first 500 runners to finish will all receive special Run the Runway medals, and 1k runners will also receive ribbons.
Registration and Packet Pickup
Registration starts at $30 but will rise to $35 starting on November 16. Runners 14 years old and younger can register for $15. There will be a 1k run for young children before the 5k, and registration for their race is free of charge. You can pick up your bag at the airport’s Del Mar Hangar on Friday, November 22.
