In many recent years, more and more people are having Friendsgiving. Whether it is because they have no family in town or they just want an excuse to have double portions of turkey and dressing, Friendsgiving can be a great time to gather with your best friends around each of your favorite holiday dishes. If you want a truly great event with your friends this year, then here are some tips for an excellent Friendsgiving.

Create A Sign-up Sheet

Having a sign-up sheet is an absolute must for any Friendsgiving. Choose categories such as appetizers, main course (aka turkey or meat of your choice), sides, and desserts. In each category, have a select number of spaces for your friends to fill out. This gives your besties the opportunity to pick a recipe they truly want to bring, but without have five dishes of green bean casserole and only one tray of brownies. The sign-up sheet helps ensure that dishes are not duplicated and that each portion of the meal is covered.

Don’t Leave Off Those Necessary Items

Often at parties and events, there are certain items that are always left off. You know the items. Paper plates, napkins, plastic cutlery, drinks, etc. Who hasn’t made a last-minute trip to the store for a couple bags of ice? You may want to include these items on the sign-up sheet or as the host you may go ahead and gather these items yourself. Either way, make a note to not forget these essential items for your Friendsgiving.

Have Games

Depending on when you schedule your Friendsgiving, there is a strong chance that some football game will be on. With that being said, you still need to find other means of entertainment for the whole crowd. After dinner, gather around and play some group games like charades or Pictionary. Having a game or two during the event only adds to the fun of the night by creating stronger bonds and funny memories.

Label the Dishes

They may be your friends, but you may not know everything about their medical history. That is why it is a good rule of thumb to label your dishes and even include key ingredients. Your family has probably grown up with the same dishes each year, so they know what to expect. Not so much with your friends. Labeling your dishes will help people with allergies or dietary restrictions can steer clear of those recipes.
